To what extent do clever images and colour schemes influence WordPress Premium theme sales?

I made this video in response to a question I received via the wpliving “ask me anything” page. The questioner was writing in response to a recent video I made about the U-design theme, which is the highest selling theme on ThemeForest.

The question was about the extent to which the use of colours and images in premium theme demos influences sales. It’s a good question, a difficult one to answer with any degree of certainty or precision.

Nevertheless, I think it’s fair to say that images play a fundamental role in determining the sales outcome of a theme. Not the only role, but a crucial one. I also think that we’re seeing an increase in stakes to find the best “window dressing” for premium theme demos.

This is a consequence of an increasingly tight marketplace. I talked about this particular aspect in a recent post called “The Rise of the WordPress Super Theme“.

So without further ado, here’s my 2 cents on the use of images and colour schemes in WordPress theme marketing. Please leave your 2 cents in the comment section below :) Thanks for watching.
